Mr. Thilan Wijesinghe was appointed as a Non-Executive Independent Director to the MIFL Board with effect from 29th of October 2024. He holds degrees in Industrial Engineering, Economics and Business from State University of New York and Cornell University, USA.
Mr. Wijesinghe is currently the Chairman and CEO of TWCorp (TWC), an investment bank he founded 12 years ago, and sits on Boards of several public and private companies in Sri Lanka, India and Maldives. TWC is engaged in private equity, corporate finance, Mergers & Acquisitions and PPP advisory work for local and international clients in Maldives, Bangladesh and Nepal. He is the and the Chairman of Sri Lanka Institute of Nano Technology and a co-founder of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology. Mr. Wijesinghe has also co-founded and become shareholder of several pioneering businesses. These include Ceylon Tea Trails, the world’s only tea plantation resort connected by walking trails, which is majority owned by Dilmah; Sapphirus Lanka, the highest value-added exporter of sapphire in Sri Lanka, and Wow.lk, an e-commerce company later sold to Dialog and now owned by Daraz.
Mr. Wijesinghe commenced his career as a Senior Consultant at PWC and then as Head of Strategic Planning at Sampath Bank. He ventured into investment banking in early 1990s and co-founded Asia Capital PLC and Asia Stock Brokers, which became Sri Lanka’s largest investment bank and stock broker in 1993 and 1994. In September 1995, Mr. Wijesinghe was invited to become the youngest ever Chairman of the Board of Investment (BOI) and soon after sold his shareholding in Asia Capital. At the BOI, he pioneered Public-Private Partnership (PPP) transactions when he set up the Bureau or Infrastructure Investments (BII) of the BOI in 1996.
In his corporate career Mr. Wijesinghe has served as the Group Managing Director of Overseas Realty PLC (owning company of World Trade Centre and Havelock City), Forbes & Walker (Sri Lanka’s largest commodity broker) and Co-CEO of Asian Hotels Properties PLC (owning company of Cinnamon Grand and Lakeside, the sale of which to John Keells was directed by Mr. Wijesinghe). From 2017 to 2019, Mr. Wijesinghe served as the founder Chairman of the National Agency for Public Private Partnership (NAPPP) that developed a PPP project pipeline of over USD 2 Bn.

We are pleased to inform the appointment of Mr Mufaddal Choonia to the Board of Directors of Mahindra Ideal Finance as a Non – Independent, Non-Executive Director with effect from 25th February 2022.

As Vice President – Emerging Asian Markets at Mahindra Finance, Mufaddal is responsible for leading Mahindra Finance’s expansion into Asian Markets and to ensure the planned financial returns on the company’s investments through a direct P&L responsibility for the businesses in these markets. He has been the anchor for Mahindra Finance’s investment in Sri Lanka through the joint venture in Mahindra Ideal Finance Limited (MIFL) and now sits on MIFL’s Board as Non – Executive Director.

Before joining Mahindra Finance, Mufaddal served as the Chief Executive Officer of Mahindra Racing SpA, an Italian subsidiary of the Mahindra Group, involved in the business of designing and manufacturing high-performance racing motorcycles. Mahindra Racing was the only Indian company that developed these motorcycles in house at its own, exclusive racing development center near Milan, in Italy. He served as the CEO and Director of Mahindra Racing, Italy from 2012 to 2019.

Mufaddal started his career in the Mahindra Group in 1999 after passing from NITIE, one of India’s leading business schools. He has held various key positions in marketing and sales across the Automotive and Financial Services sectors of the Group. Mufaddal’ s first assignment in the Group as Brand Manager – Scorpio, saw him become part of the core team that developed & launched the iconic Scorpio. After gaining valuable experience in the automotive sector of the Group, he then moved on to spearhead the marketing function at Mahindra Finance, where he was responsible for launching the company’s first every integrated national marketing campaign. After a 2.5 year stint outside the Group with Emirates NBD Bank in Dubai, Mufaddal re – joined the Group in 2010 in the Group Strategy Office, where he worked with the business leaders of various Mahindra businesses and helped them develop their long-term business and growth strategies.

Mufaddal has extremely rich international experience of over a decade and is very widely traveled across the globe. His educational qualifications include a graduation in Automobile Engineering and post-graduation in Business Management from NITIE.

We are pleased to inform the appointment of Mr Sujeewa Mudalige to the Board of Directors of Mahindra Ideal Finance as an Independent, Non-Executive Director with effect from 04th January 2022. Mr Mudalige counts over 30 years of experience as a Chartered Accountant. He is also a fellow member of CIMA (UK), ACCA (UK) and CPA (Australia). He has vast experience as the Audit Committee Chair in both public and private sector organizations. Mr Mudalige is the managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers, He is also an independent non- executive director at National Development Bank PLC. Mr Mudalige is a past President of ICASL and has been a member of the Council of ICASL and of the governing board of CIMA UK- Sri Lanka Division, a Commission member of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka and held several such other positions locally and globally during the span of his career. He was an independent non-executive director of Hatton National Bank PLC from 2012 to 2018.

Raul is a career banker with extensive experience in the domain of Rural Banking and Financial Inclusion. Prior to joining Mahindra Finance, he was with Axis Bank as EVP & Head – Rural Lending & Financial Inclusion.

Over nearly 2 decades with Axis Bank, he led key businesses including Rural Lending, Farmer Funding, Gold Loans, MSME lending, Commodity Loans, Tractor & Farm Equipment Lending, Agri-Value chain Deposits, Payments & Insurance. He also led the Business correspondent channel including 15,000+ partner outlets and the Micro-ATM channel of the Bank. He played a pivotal role to increase the Banks Distribution in Rural and Semi –Urban areas through light format Banking outlets, Micro-ATMs, and Rural ecosystem partnerships.

He is credited with several transformational interventions viz. introducing various end-to-end digital initiatives and paperless loan journeys for low-income households, besides launching suitable phygital tools and customer journeys including Aadhar Pay. Under his leadership, Axis Bank has won the prestigious Financial Inclusion Award at the Asian Banking and Finance Awards in 2019 and 2021.

Raul is a member of CII National Council on Agriculture since FY19 and serves as an Advisory Board Member on the Expert Committee for Agriculture & Food Processing of Bombay Chambers of Commerce and Industry since 2017.

He is a Postgraduate in Management from the Goa Institute of Management.

Ms. Nimisha Welgama was appointed to the board of Mahindra Ideal Finance Limited on 19th February 2025 as a Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director. Ms. N Welgama having qualified with LLB honors from the University of Warwick in the U.K., & also completed her Bar Vocational Course attached to Lincoln’s Inn, UK. Subsequently she moved to Sydney Australia & practiced as a solicitor in Australia gaining experience in many international and blue chip companies at Senior Level. Prior to returning to Sri Lanka she worked at Mills Oakley (Sydney) as Senior Associate – Toxic Torts and prior to that at DLA Piper (Sydney) as Solicitor – Litigation and Dispute Resolution.

She is also the Director Legal & Corporate Affairs, for Ideal Motors (Private) Limited, and also worked as Advisor – Corporate Strategy and New Business Development of the Ideal Group.

Anushka joined the board as a non-executive director on 19th February 2025.
She currently serves as an education consultant to Gateway College and a is a member of the Australian Human Resources Institute.

Anushka completed her secondary education in Melbourne, Australia. She graduated from Deakin University, Victoria, with a Bachelor of Science – Extended Major in Psychology & Minor in Biological Science.
Thereafter, she completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Economics – Specialized in Human Resource Management from Latrobe University, Melbourne, Victoria.

Anushka has work experience at ANZ Bank in Australia and in a diverse range of entities in Sri Lanka.

She is passionate about community work and has provided leadership to many volunteer projects.

Born in Sri Lanka and shaped in Silicon Valley, the consistent thread woven across Mr. Mangala Karunaratne’s

professional life is his devotion to taking Sri Lankan ingenuity global and transforming how Sri Lanka is viewed

in the global technology arena. Mr. Mangala, possessing over 20 years of experience in the field of information

technology, was appointed as a Director to the Board with effect from 27th January 2026.

After completing his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at California State University, Fresno, Mr. Mangala

made his way to Silicon Valley, which at the time was just entering the dot-com boom. Mr. Mangala progressed

from engineer to project manager, eventually leading engineering teams at GolfWeb (later acquired by CBS

Sportsline), Bay Networks Inc, and Nortel Networks Corporation.

In 2002, he founded Calcey Technologies (Private) Limited, a Colombo-based software product engineering

company serving global clients. Under his leadership, the company has grown into an internationally recognized

technology partner now employing over 200 talented professionals and delivering digital products to clients

including PayPal, Cisco, Wikimedia Foundation, and Stanford University.

He has also been involved in the startup and venture capital ecosystem as an angel investor and mentor to

emerging technology entrepreneurs. In 2024, he played a key role in the strategic merger between Calcey

Technologies (Private) Limited and Surge Global (Private) Limited, forming Short Circuit Limited, a digital services

company focused on building global technology capabilities from Sri Lanka.

Beyond technology, Mr. Mangala is actively involved in entrepreneurial and investment ventures through Grit

HQ, including Asaya Sands, a boutique beachfront retreat in Mirissa aimed at creating spaces where global

professionals can work, connect, and recharge. He is a trustee of the Karuna Trust and actively mentors emerging

entrepreneurs while supporting the growth of startup ecosystems through his involvement in the regional

venture capital community. With over two decades of experience building and scaling ventures, he brings

expertise in strategic vision, entrepreneurship, and identifying opportunities for growth.
